My self
WHO I AM
As a little girl I used to get lost gazing at old films where with a bit of luck one could see the most beautiful odalisques dancing through wavy gossamer-like veils to the tinkling of tiny gold coins. The harem brightly lit by candles, oriental melodies, bare feet that moved airily on damask carpets amoungst embroidered velvet cushions and fabric that belongs to a thousand and one nights...there I was a little girl dreamily admiring the strange contrast between the delicate movements and the energy of the dancers who combined and alternated sinuous movements with strong accents toying with the changing of the music.
The years go by and dreams change, but those pictures have always stayed in a little corner inside me...In fact, when I chanced to discover a course on oriental dance I didn't hesitate a moment and there I was learning this new kind of body expression. Initially I felt the lessons as a moment to dedicate to myself, something that belonged to me alone, as it turned out I didn't speak to anyone about this unique experience. As the years went by, my passion for this dance developed and I continued to study. Slowly, bit by bit I started to realize that not only was I learning the steps and the movements but I was also learning to know myself. I realized I was changing, that I was becoming aware of myself, my physical aspect and also and above all I was becoming aware of my emotions. Wow this was a real discovery!
My life has been marked by a series of unexpected events and coincidences. So by chance, one day, I was asked to give a short lesson in Grado and give a demonstration of what Oriental dance really is. I still have vivid memories of that wonderful day. The smiles and happy expressions of the people watching, the way the ladies and young girls tried with great commitment to imitate the movements I was showing them. It is difficult to explain but something clicked in me that made me want to continue seeing those smiles, to feel that positiveness able to give me such a burst of energy. So when I decided that I would try to transmit the magic of this discipline to others I started by giving my first lessons.
TRAINING
Looking for a way to find the most suitable style for myself, led me to meeting various teachers and I discovered Wael Mansour whose stile best suits my inner soul and in whom I can identify myself, a style that I prefer by far. In addition to his lessions, I regularly attend various workshops held by the most famous dancers that are in Italy at the moment; for example Saad Ismail helps to refine my technical precision and teaches you anthropological studies, Kesia Elwin for her energy with percussions and Olivia Mancino is excellent for isolating and layering movements.
When they are available, I try to follow the American stars, Jillina, Amar Gamal and Aziza who form the Bellydancers Superstars (the most well-known and liked group at world level) and occasionally other foreign and non-foreign teachers like Saida, Virginia, Asmahan, Khaled Mahmoud, M. Habib, Sandy D'Ali, Tamalyn Dallal. Moreover, I have also been part of Giulia Mion's Dance Academy.
As well as the studies I mentioned above to improve my knowledge, I have also taken part in various shows and cultural events, in solo and with the group "3/4 di Luna" (3/4 of a moon). We appear in various shows and do some entertainment. I took part in the team game on RAI 2 (Italian TV channel) as the oriental dance participant and I have been a guest in various TV shows (Tele 4, Telefriuli, TV Koper) and radio stations (RAI, Radio Trst A, Radio Punto Zero, Radioattivitą).
